Same Sky Meets Rock’n'Roll

August 4th, 2011

If there is an event you should not miss this summer it is the Escape To New York music festival in South Hampton August 5 through 7.  This upscale festival embodies class from the gourmet food selection to glamorous camping, or ‘glamping’.

The festival, on the Shinnecock Reservation, will be a showcase of art, theater, music and food. Also in store: countless speakers, New York area vendors, staggering installations and the Record Braking Brunch, an attempt to break the world’s record for largest brunch.

Performances include, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Patti Smith, The Postelles, Au Revior Simone, Of Montreal, Mates of State and many more.

The mission of Escape to New York seems to capture the essence of originality and the meshing of current creative minds in a trendy festival setting.

Now, thanks to Golden Scarab, a company committed to providing unique jewelry, Same Sky will be among the upscale vendors featured at this celebration of music and creativity.

We look forward to a weekend of awareness and music.  Hope to see you there.

If you haven't checked out this site, the women that hand craft the jewelry or the 'cause' behind it you should. The jewelry is beautiful!!!

I watched the brief story about Same Sky today and thought that it was just wonderful, and that these ladies make such beautiful items.   I would like to get involved, as I care very much about the challenges of people like these who have lived such a devastating life; and been so mistreated in so many ways.

Thank you so much.  I admire these wonen and their strength for surviving all the terrible experiences they had suffered.

I just saw a feature on "Inside Edition" TV show regarding the Same Sky initiative for Rwandan genocide survivors.  As a retiree, I couldn't afford  a glass bead bracelet, but purchased a fabric wrap.  I'll wear it with pride and spread the word about this worthwhile enterprise.  How wonderful to see these survivors supporting themselves and improving their lives.  I hope they see each sale as a vote of confidence from those of us who have been more fortunate.  I wish them peace of mind, success and every happiness.

Run, don't walk! The jewelry is exquisite and makes you feel great knowing that you're helping women help themselves. And if they can do it, given their tragic circumstances, then we have NO excuse
