Steinem’s Story

August 15th, 2011

For many women Gloria Steinem is the face of feminism. However, after 15 years of lying low, younger generations see her as a name in a history book – much like the feminist movement. Now Steinem is being jettisoned back onto the scene with a new documentary, “Gloria: In Her Own Words” and showing the world that the movement and Steinem are still alive and active.

The buzz is overwhelming for the HBO documentary produced by Peter Kunhardt and Sheila Nevins, this documentary explores the arc of her career. Starting in the 60’s with her exposé on working conditions of Play Boy Bunnies and following her evolution into feminist icon and social activist.

Gloria Steinem has been an inspiration for generations of women and now renews the spark with “Gloria: In Her Own Words”.

“Gloria: In her Own Words” premiers tonight on HBO at 9:00 p.m.

I'm thrilled to see you circulating news about SAME SKY to all of your friends. These women have been dealt one of the toughest fates a person can deal with and they deal with it with such courage and dignity. They certainly deserve our support!

I just saw a feature on "Inside Edition" TV show regarding the Same Sky initiative for Rwandan genocide survivors.  As a retiree, I couldn't afford  a glass bead bracelet, but purchased a fabric wrap.  I'll wear it with pride and spread the word about this worthwhile enterprise.  How wonderful to see these survivors supporting themselves and improving their lives.  I hope they see each sale as a vote of confidence from those of us who have been more fortunate.  I wish them peace of mind, success and every happiness.
