December Ambassador of the Month!
Same Sky is happy to announce December’s Ambassador of the Month: Elizabeth Dewberry! Elizabeth has been instrumental in spreading our mission in Atlanta, Georgia and hosting several successful trunk shows.
Below she shares her thoughts about Same Sky, Rwanda and women’s empowerment:
Q: What drew you to Same Sky? What makes Same Sky unique or stand out from other organizations?
A: I feel a deep sense of kinship with Rwandans, especially Rwandan women. Their capacity for forgiveness is awe-inspiring, and their capacity for joy after sorrow is beyond amazing. I love being part of an organization that empowers them. I also love Francine and her beautiful spirit.
Q: How does Same Sky’s mission reflect your own interests?
A: It’s mostly my love for Rwanda. I’ve been there four times and long to go back. These people are a testimony to the power of forgiveness and the resiliency of the human spirit.
Q: How do you feel when you wear your Same Sky bracelet?
A: Proud and lucky.
Q: Has women’s empowerment always been a part of your life? What does women’s empowerment mean to you?
A: I believe that we cannot solve the world’s major problems–everything from preventable child mortality to extreme poverty to global climate change to the current economic crisis–without empowering women. It’s that crucial. Everything we know and love depends on it.
Q: Do you have a message for the artisans? Do you have a message for our customers?
A: To our artisans and our customers: thank you and God bless all of us!
