Free Fun This Holiday

December 21st, 2011

Christmas is fast approaching and Chanukah just started. Many of us are settling into a little vacation time with friends and family.  Sometimes, this is the only time of year you see some of these people and you probably have a long list of engagements for lunch and drinks – but who wants to spend money going out when you just went on a holiday shopping spree?

Here are some great ideas for spreading Holiday cheer without making a dent in your wallet.

Together in the kitchen: Have an old friend over to bake cookies!  You both turn a chore into a wonderful afternoon of catching up – and you will have something to bring to the party!

Take a walk: Instead of meeting up for lunch, meet up for a walk!  Fresh air and exercise will surely be a wonderful break from the hustle and bustle of the season.  PLUS you won’t feel so guilty munching on all the treats at the office.

Movie night: Dust off those old holiday movies and put on the kettle – hot cocoa and ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’, anyone?  After a hard day of shopping, have a few friends over for a movie.  Everyone can relax and enjoy each other’s company. No frills and no fuss.

Story time: This is the perfect time to read that really long picture book to your kids.  After dinner sit down and read a little every night.  It will give them something to look forward to and give mom and dad some quality time with the little ones. *Story time doesn’t just have to be for the kids! Swap out the book for a photo album and share some memories.*

However you are spending your holiday, it doesn’t require spending your savings.  Just stick to some of these ideas  and quality time won’t cost you a dime.

Happy Holidays!

These Rwanadan women who have survived AIDS and the genocide, are making the most beautiful glass bead bracelets and they get the proceeds, for the firat time in their lives thaty have food and shelter and the necessities of life. We all NEED to order a bracelet, NO, they are not cheap but consider it charity! You will feel good about it and have a beautiful bracelet to show for it.

My order is placed now; I will be so proud to wear my "Purple Rain" fabric bracelet. There was an overwhelming response last night after the television program "Inside Edition" aired the Same Sky trade and these beautiful bracelets. I wasn't able to order last night 4-5 hours after airing of the show; many of the bracelets were out of stock. This is a great thing. I am very pleased that my bracelet is on order now; they are so colorful and unique. Thank You, Same Sky.
