Giving back is as easy as 1- 2 -3!

December 12th, 2011

It is getting colder but hearts are getting warmer as the season of giving is in full swing. Here are some ways you can give a little extra this holiday season:

1. Volunteer. There are so many opportunities to volunteer your time. You can serve at a local soup kitchen, lead a Girl Scout troupe, or distribute food and toys to families in need. If you are not sure where to start, The American Red Cross has a great data base for prospective volunteers.

2. Ethical Gifting. Give the gift that gives back! Please join Same Sky at the Holiday Feed-raiser and Market this Wednesday to get a jump on your guilt-free holiday shopping.  Other companies to look out for: Ten Thousand Villages and Warby Parker .

3. Donate. At this time of year, grocery and toy stores place bins to collect donations for those in need. Keep an eye out and give where you can.  Some reputable organizations that we recomend are Toys For Tots and New York City’s City Harvest.

Thank you, in advance, for giving back.  Happy Holidays!

I watched the brief story about Same Sky today and thought that it was just wonderful, and that these ladies make such beautiful items.   I would like to get involved, as I care very much about the challenges of people like these who have lived such a devastating life; and been so mistreated in so many ways.

Thank you so much.  I admire these wonen and their strength for surviving all the terrible experiences they had suffered.
