Same Sky is happy to announce Veronica Kelly as the January Ambassador of the month!

“The concept of empowering women everywhere resonates deeply with me. We are all women under the same sky and helping one another enriches us and gives all of us a feeling of empowerment.

We have so much in this country and to think that simply buying a bracelet can help change the lives of women in Rwanda is amazing. These women have survived Genocide and HIV yet have the drive and ambition to create beauty- that alone should make us all duty bound to wear several bracelets on our wrists!

I am proud to be associated with this initiative to ‘give a hand up, rather than a hand out’, it reflects the same philosophy of my work with the Bowery Mission. At the Mission’s Women’s Center formerly homeless women are afforded the opportunity to work hard to restore themselves spiritually, emotionally, as well as improving their education level so that can return to society as productive independent citizens.

The work of the artisans is exceptional and the efforts of Francine LeFrak to bring hope, direction, and power to HIV positive women in Africa, who as a result of this opportunity can lift up their families and communities is simply remarkable.” – Veronica Kelly

Veronica is a longtime advocate of women’s empowerment. She is a dedicated volunteer of at the Bowery Mission where she has aided in establishing its Women’s Center at Heartsease Home. Heartsease serves homeless women providing educational, physical and spiritual guidance and recovery.
