Remember Rwanda
Dear Same Sky Fans and Friends,
April 7th marks the anniversary of the 1994 genocide in Rwanda. Rwanda has been in a rebuilding process ever since those 100 days of violence that devastated the country.
Now, 18 years later, Rwanda has built a strong and thriving country. With a female dominate government the country has jettisoned into the future. Recently installing a fiber optic network has opened Rwanda up to e-commerce, a huge benefit to economic progress. Primary school enrollment is at 95% and HIV rates have plummeted. Rwanda is recovering.
I am proud that Same Sky has had a small part in the recovery of this country. Thanks to you and your support Same Sky provides employment to women; helping them rebuild their lives and create futures for their families. I feel privileged to know them and work with them and share their stories with you.
Thank you for all your support of our women artisans who have survived the most unspeakable tragedies. On April 7th I ask that you join us to stand in solidarity with our artisans and with Rwanda in remembrance.
Sincerely,
Francine LeFrak
