Ambassador of the Month: Bronwen Booth
Bronwen Booth’s elegance is radiating -her career as a New York based actress has been hugely successful with parts in Scrubs, Babel, Airspeed, What’s Your Number, and Nurse Jackie, just to name a few. Her talent does not stop at her acting career, she is also the featured model of Same Sky’s Fall/Winter Catalog, where you can find her family (including her husband and her dog) modeling on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
This month, we spoke with Bronwen on Same Sky’s dreams and ambitions, the future of women’s empowerment, and how Same Sky’s mission reflects her own life time goals.
What drew you to Same Sky? What makes Same Sky unique or stand out from other organizations?
Empowering women is not just about giving speeches or giving to charity, but about giving women pride and purpose; to know you aren’t worthless, but a contributor to your family and community – an artist who makes beautiful jewelry, which is appreciated and worn around the globe. You are a woman not to be pitied but to be admired.
How does Same Sky’s mission reflect your own interests and goals?
It feels incredible to help support these women, who have been through so much and are able to get up and be productive and positive – they motivate me to be more proactive and motivated in my life. To know that there is really no obstacle life can throw at you that gives you an excuse to crawl up in bed and disappear. To stand up and be counted and say this is what I do, I do it well, I am a productive creative force and will not be made small.
What does women’s empowerment mean to you? Has women’s empowerment always been a part of your life? As you continue your studies are women a factor in your life goals?
Is there a woman that can say women’s empowerment is not a part of their lives? It’s everything. How insecure we feel, how much less important in the family – our children come first, right? What if we all believed in ourselves – our own worth? What power then! To not let the voices in our heads or in society hold us back from doing! Just do it.
Do you have a message for the artisans? Do you have a message for our customers?
Thank you fellow artists for creating such powerful and beautiful pieces. I can feel your energy, kindness and courage every time I wear my bracelets. I particularly wear them on days I feel small, challenged, scared of the day and they bring me courage. I hold on to them and say to myself we are all together, their power and strength is mine and mine is theirs.
