UPDATES FROM OUR SAME SKY SCHOLARS

Diane U.

Diane U. is studying Journalism and Communication at the Catholic Institute of Kabgayi (ICK) in Muhanga, Rwanda.

"All is well with me here at ICK Kabgayi. I have been busy with many tests and exams. I am happy to tell you that I did well in all those assignments. Apart from that, we have completed two modules, including Language Skills and Religion. Now we are working on Radio and TV Broadcast. I really appreciate how Same Sky had helped me to achieve my goals. I still want to be the first woman journalist in my country and am very optimistic that my dreams will come true. I really love Francine and the Same Sky team for the love you always show me. May God bless you and your work! My mom and I always pray for you and we will never stop doing so."

Diane A.

Diane A. has joined Abilene Christian University where she is hoping to study electrical engineering for the next four years.

"It is an honor and a privilege to be a Same Sky scholar. Same Sky gave me a chance to complete my high school studies. After I applied to Bridge2Rwanda, Same Sky paid for me to join a university in Rwanda where I have been studying part time as a first year civil engineering student, as well as attending the pre-university trainings at Bridge2Rwanda. Same Sky paid for my visa expenses to the USA and gave me a chance to fulfill my educational dreams and press forward to be an outstanding young girl. I'm hoping to study electrical engineering at ACU and I will do research that will help solve the growing need of energy in Rwanda by utilizing resources available locally. After my studies in the USA, I will travel back to Rwanda and actively contribute to the development of my country and inspire other girls to study STEM at university! Thank you so much Same Sky for all your support - without it I would not have a hope of achieving my educational  dream in the USA!"

Beatrice

Beatrice has been awarded a scholarship to study environmental science at United Arab Emirates University.

"I feel blessed to be a Same Sky scholar. Being a Same Sky scholar serves as a reminder that I should not live for my self. Same Sky offered me an opportunity to complete my high school studies and also helped me pay the application and admission fees for my studies at UAE University this year. I am fortunate to live my dreams because Same Sky has cared about my education. I'm motivated and ready to tackle any challenge in environmental science. I hope to improve my technical skills as well as work towards my career goal. Being a Same Sky scholar means that I have an opportunity to inspire other girls when I go back to my community to study and solve our problems there! I'm thankful to the Same Sky foundation."

Raissa

Raissa is a third year nursing student at the University of Gitwe in Rwanda.

"Being a Same Sky scholar has been a blessing to me; I am able to focus on my demanding nursing course without having to worry about tuition fees, accommodation or living expenses. I dropped out of high school because of the expense of school fees and supplies and my guardians had no hope of getting me back. Now, as a third-year college student, I consider myself lucky to have full financial support from the Same Sky Foundation. My desire has exploded into a passion for helping and caring for others. After my graduation as a professional nurse, I want to serve the rural communities of Rwanda to care for pregnant mothers and to contribute towards the well being of healthcare. I also want to be a role model to young women and prove to them that they can be successful in science and technology if they work hard. I want to advocate for all African women to have access to the best healthcare and facilities. I cannot thank the Same Sky foundation enough for this wonderful gift of education. This scholarship has allowed me to accomplish many of my academic goals, some of my life dreams and also brought back my hope for my future aspirations. I'm now a confident young lady ready to face the future without any fear."
